Faithful

The Meriam-Webster dictionary’s list of synonyms for FAITHFUL includes the words; loyal, constant, staunch, steadfast and resolute. It would be hard for me to choose just one of these words that I would like to have someone use to describe me and my commitment to Christ. I hope that my devotion to do what is right goes far beyond a causal approach and that those around would describe me as faithful, loyal, constant, staunch, steadfast and resolute in my actions each day.
I want to show up each day ready to get to work and do all that I can, though imperfect it may be, to build His kingdom and bring others to Christ. Life is not easy and often the work I am asked to do doesn’t feel noble, certainly not exciting or glamourous. Some days it feels right down boring and often overwhelming.
As a little girl I dreamt of being a mom, but all my little girl dreams were missing the days spent with sick and grumpy kids, the dinner that didn’t turn out as I hoped it would, the heartbroken teenager or the umpteenth house repair that had to be paid for. My life is full of these moments but over the years I have learned that it is in these moments that I am given the opportunity to show my Savior that I will be faithful to Him each day. I will show up ready to get to work when things are not going as planned and I will stick around and help clean up the mess after the disasters. In these moments I know that He is proud of me and that in my little part of His kingdom He can count on me and call me His loyal servant. That is my greatest dream!
I am the mother of six kids. The oldest is 16 years older than the youngest and this gives me a unique perspective on mothering. I have the experience and glimpses of wisdom that have been hard earned after nearly 21 years of being in the thick of motherhood. At the same time, I am still juggling a house full of kids and I am trying to make sure the youngest gets a nap while older kids need driving hours and dating advice. I have survived motherhood so far and have learned many lessons over the years but I am also very aware that each day is a new adventure and I am tweaking what I know to make it work for this group of kids in this season of life.
My older kids benefited from my energy and enthusiasm while the younger kids have the benefit of my experience and wisdom. I hope that you will join me as I do my best to be faithful each day. My greatest desire is to do all I can and then at the end of the day turn it over to the Savior and trust in His grace to make what I offer enough.
